Maia Abeyta’s Story

“I’ve done the nature and science mural for the apartment that’s being constructed over here, and I have kind of worked on the totem pole project. I’m hoping I can go more into that one.

I think the opportunity to be able to work with other people; because I’ve never had that experience of collaborating with other people and doing art together. So I thought that was really cool. It’s a nice experience; getting to meet all these new people was really cool too because I’m really quiet.

I could say I’m not really much of a painter so I think this has really helped me in my skill painting, and I thought that was really cool, And just the opportunity to work in something that I love doing.

My god! I fell in love with this place. I didn’t expect to be so interested, I thought it was going to be this summer job but it’s a LOT more that that. I’ve met a lot of amazing people and I’ve done a lot of things I wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to do. So I would love to hopefully stay in touch with Arts Street. “
