Because beautiful mountain towns have beautiful assets –

This is your chance to put your creative planning skills to a real business development plan using the latest map creating technology.  Arts Street is partnering with Grand County Economic Development Division to help map out a mountain region’s creative district potential. This Service Learning project gives participants real-world experience in using satellite technology, information capturing, and data analysis to develop an asset map for Grand County which includes these beautiful mountain towns: Winter Park, Fraser, Granby, Grand Lake, Hot Sulphur Springs, and Kremmling.

This program will involve two components:

GIS Dynamic Mapping I
a.     Sat., Feb 23, 2013 – All day introductory workshop led by an ESRI certified instructor on geospatial global to local; capturing data through smart phone; and examining Grand County asset mapping needs.

b.     March / April – the group will enroll into 2 teams -taught by GeoWize instructors
Team 1 – Urban Data Geeks in Denver: 20 hours of basic dynamic mapping technical training classes.
Team 2 – Mountain Info Squad in Grand County: 4 weeks of on-location data gathering and survey.

GIS Dynamic Mapping II $220
April / May – 2 intensive weekends of data melting, analyzing and strategy development with interaction between
the two groups in Denver as well as in a mountain location.
