In partnership with Trust for Public Land, Arts Street youth creatively activate New Freedom Park

New Freedom Park, located at the edge of Denver and Aurora at 13th and Yosemite, serves a neighborhood that is home to many refugees and recent immigrants. The design for the mural in the park began with a community meeting to gather resident input and visual inspirations from the many countries-of-origin represented in the apartments surrounding the park. Painting of the mural began with two community paint days that brought together youth artists from Colorado High School Charter (CHSC), Arts Street interns, and residents who frequent the park. EnvironMENTAL Interns Tackle Anxiety Around Environmental Issues

Arts Street’s EnvironMENTAL is a yearlong project with multiple components. It was designed as a means for youth to gain valuable workplace skills, express themselves, and inspire others in their communities to take action regarding the environment through a creative lens. During the pandemic there has been a rise in hopelessness, anxiety and depression which has been compounded by climate change and other environmental issues. Multiple creative projects assisted youth in expressing themselves while decreasing their anxiety and giving them a platform for their voices to be heard. Go to to see what the talented interns created for this project, including the website!
